The Vanmade-Story
Completely crazy. By a truly remarkable coincidence, we — Max and Jan — crossed paths again after years. Jan, a fascinated vanlifer with his surf house in the south of France, and Max with his small mattress workshop in Essen, NRW. That’s the foundation. In the following months, we spend every free minute creating a concept for a van mattress and developing the first prototypes. After an exciting and sweat-filled time, it’s finally done: With great pride, we present Vanmade® — the first mattress developed specifically for campers!
The idea
We are developing a real mattress for the camper sector. It should be cozy yet durable. All combined in a unique design.

Marie joins the Party
Living in Biarritz, Marie is fascinated by the idea and contributes to the product from day one. As a photographer and brand-branding expert, she becomes an indispensable part of Vanmade.

Known as conversion specialists, MobyVan is part of the development. They support us with advice and practical help and believe in the project! Our first professional partner, of inestimable value.
Founding Company
After the product and structures were in place, all that was missing was the founding of a GmbH. Said and done.

Jan moves to Germany
Leaving southern France to found a company in Essen? No problem for Jan. Now things are really taking off!
Configurator
Von beer-coaster sketches to highly complex technical drawings, we received almost everything. A tool was needed to make the Vanmade orderable. In collaboration with Lucksmith, the Vanmade configurator was created.
First Exhebition
Together with our partner MobyVan, we are represented at the Vanlife Fair Ferropolis. Here we were able to gather a lot of experience and talk to people from the scene.
Shooting in Sweden
What a trip! Here, together with our friends, we burned through our entire marketing budget for the next 3 years for an unforgettable time. Many thanks to Marie, Patrizia, Tim, Valentin, Paul, Sebastian, and Carlo. In terms of importance, every one of them should have been mentioned first!
Big Partner
Our strong partner Wegerich GmbH supports us in large-scale production and will later become THE manufacturer of Vanmade products. We are incredibly grateful and excited about this addition.
